We are looking for a dedicated team member to support RWE’s Green Growth Strategy. The International Hydrogen Investments (“IHI”) team at RWE Supply & Trading GmbH has the mandate to deploy capital in the form of Development Expenditure in integrated hydrogen derivative projects, with a focus on green ammonia and to invest across the entire green hydrogen value chain including both hydrogen derivative export projects (worldwide) and hydrogen derivative import projects (in North West Europe).

Furthermore, RWE is committed to develop a globally diversified portfolio of long-term offtake agreements for green hydrogen and its derivatives, such as ammonia. This role will focus on derivate import projects, specially terminals and crackers

About the role

As project developer in our International Hydrogen Investments Team your main responsibilities include:

  • Translate techno-economic parameters of projects into a tangible business case for RWE and continuously improve the commercial models and provide relevant analysis for the project and towards Management.
  • Provide analysis on derivate import projects in Europe.
  • Drive the project development together with the project director. This entails jointly working on and aligning with all project workstreams (e.g. technical, commercial, funding, partnerships), keeping track of the integrated project schedule, preparation of internal decision making.
  • Analytical modeling and valuation of potential investment opportunities.
  • Coordinate internal processes with all relevant internal stakeholders such as the relevant Trading Desks, PPA teams, Structuring & Valuation, Legal & Compliance, Market Risk, Credit Risk, Finance and Back Office.
  • Develop excellent professional relationships with all relevant stakeholders within the RWE Group.

Job requirements and experience

  • University degree in business, economics, engineering or natural science.
  • Working experience of 5 years in an analytical role in the energy, chemicals, consulting or other relevant industry.
  • High proficiency in modelling including ability to build economic and valuation models from scratch.
  • Experience in project management of large scale asset projects and willingness to develop in this field.
  • Basic understanding of technical concepts of green hydrogen and derivative (e.g. ammonia) projects.
  • Commercial and intrapreneurial mind-set and good understanding in of energy economics along the value chain.
  • Good understanding of all risks associated in complex transactions (market risk, credit risk, regulatory risks, legal risks, liquidity risk etc.).
  • Ability to communicate the results and implications of complex analysis clearly to senior members of IHI.
  • Self-starter, ability to prioritise work and work unsupervised with excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills; fluent English language skills and fluent knowledge of an additional relevant European language.

Advantageous, but not essential

  • German or Dutch language skills.
