The Opportunity

Arup Ireland are seeking talented students to join our Mechanical, Electrical & Public Health (MEP) team in our Dublin and Cork offices over the period of a few months. We look for students who are ready to jump into the professional world; diverse individuals with inquisitive minds and a desire to challenge.

You will work alongside skilled professionals as part of multi-disciplinary design teams and contribute to the success of real projects in the built environment. You will also enjoy learning sessions with technical experts within your team, working on local projects and all kinds of social events.

Our team are involved in a wide range of sectors including healthcare, science & industry, technology, commercial, education and public buildings. Some of our current projects include the New Children’s Hospital, National Maternity Hospital, confidential hyperscale data centres, Wilton Park, Bolands Quay, UCD Teaching and Learning Building, TCD E3 Learning Foundry and Crawford Art Gallery redevelopment.

As a Electrical Engineer at Arup, you will:

  • Work closely with and take guidance from experienced electrical engineers and BIM technicians.
  • Design and calculation of electrical services including electrical distribution, cable containment, small power, lighting & emergency lighting, fire detection and alarm systems, ICT, security and earthing systems.
  • Work in a BIM environment using Revit and Navisworks to prepare fully co-ordinated 3D design models for projects.
  • Learn and use various design software packages such as Revit, Amtech, Dialux, Elevate etc. to undertake the tasks above.
  • Implement the appropriate QA procedures for all deliverables and ensure compliance with H&S requirements.
  • Liaise with and work effectively with staff from other disciplines.
  • Communicate effectively in a team environment with a broad cross-section of individuals.
