In Würth, you become part of something bigger – something much bigger! In addition to your approx. 700 colleagues in Denmark, you will get 87,000 new colleagues globally.
Würth is the story of growth created through a firm focus on good customer relations through direct and regular personal contact and products of a quality that never disappoints.
Globally, Würth has a turnover of more than DKK 150 billion and in Denmark we have a turnover of just over DKK 1.2 billion to our more than 45,000 customers.
Our new Sales Manager Graduate Program must ensure that we always have competent potential sales managers ready when the need arises.
The 2-year course should prepare you to be able to compete for positions as manager of 8-10 salespeople after the end of the program, just as you will be able to compete for positions as manager of sales managers within 5 years.
In order to be able to do this, it is necessary that you yourself gain first-hand experience of selling to our customers, and that through specific tasks and projects you get all the way around our sales organization and in the company’s general operations.
How is the program structured?
This is a 2-year program starting on 1 September 2024.
You will rotate between 4 overall modules of half a year’s duration.
We call the 1st module sales training. It includes general onboarding in the company as well as thorough sales training. You will be as well trained in sales as all our existing salespeople – and you will have the opportunity to try out what you have learned in practice via a 4-month internship in a sales region.
Then you will rotate between 3 modules, the order of which is not fixed.
In one module, you will access our Sales Director’s staff. Here you will gain an insight into top-down sales management, and you will have to work with more operational tasks, projects and analyses. It can, for example, be that you, together with the Sales Director’s PA, plan and execute on our January kickoff, then you could be tasked with running a project to revise an existing sales initiative nationally. And then it could be thought that you have to do an analysis of a given sales effort.
In another module, you will access our Adm. Director’s staff. Here you will gain an insight into business management, and you will get to work with cross-organisational tasks, projects and analyses. You might want to, together with the Adm. Director’s PA, had to plan and run the annual budget process. It may be that you have to run a project across several departments with a view to a new process. Your analytical skills will come into play if you are tasked with investigating why a cross-organisational process is not working optimally.
In a third module, which we call the project module, you will have to run a larger project in one of our departments, just as smaller operational tasks will also be included. If you join our market organization, it is possible that you will be tasked with optimizing our monthly market meeting with all the sales managers. If you join the purchasing department, you may need to support our purchasing manager in optimizing the sourcing of specific product categories. If you join our product department, it is possible that you will run a project that aims to implement a new product area in our business. In other words; the possibilities are countless. What we can promise you are exciting assignments and projects that will challenge you.
During the program, you will join the Würth Group’s international talent program, which is called Würth Potential and consists of two modules of one week each. These take place in our group headquarters in Künzelsau in Germany and in Rorschach in Switzerland.
In the second year, you will also be admitted to Würth Denmark’s internal leadership potential training (LPU), just as you will take part in our leadership days, which are held every six months.
Who are you?
At Würth, we believe that talent can be developed – we call it having a Growth Mindset.
You therefore see a challenge as an opportunity for development and you are not hampered by the fear of failure, as you know that it is a valuable path to your success. You are curious about other people’s feedback to you and the success of others is a great source of inspiration for you.
We run almost a people business, which is why raw intelligence alone will not make you successful as a sales manager. We expect you to also possess a high emotional intelligence that enables you to recognize and regulate your own emotions as well as pick up and influence the emotions of others.
As this is a graduate programme, we expect you to be a recent graduate.
From an educational background, you must have a higher education, preferably at master’s level. We want graduates who are disciplined and results-oriented, therefore we expect you to be able to demonstrate this by having achieved excellent exam results during your studies.
We are open to several fields of study, but think that your studies have certainly revolved around business, economics, etc.
A large part of the program takes place at our head office in Kolding. You therefore live within normal driving distance or you move your address towards Kolding.
What can you expect?
An intensive and particularly challenging period of 2 years. You will have to solve many different tasks that will accelerate your learning towards the realization of your goals and ambitions. You will find that all your many colleagues at Würth are ready to help you, but you must also be able to reach out for help.
Throughout the process, you will organizationally belong to the Sales Director’s staff, he is thus your immediate manager and holds employee development talks and 1:1 talks with you. When you are out in the modules, you will refer to the department manager on a daily basis, but maintain the formal reference relationship with the Sales Director.
At Würth, we focus on personal development. We do this by constantly practicing giving feedback and room for reflection. You will therefore have an HR Business Partner as a sparring partner throughout the process.
When you have finished the programme, we are ready with an exciting position for you. It could be as sales manager for 8-10 salespeople or it could be an exciting position as Key Account Manager for our largest customers or perhaps market manager?
In terms of salary, benefits and pension, you can expect a general market level for newly qualified graduates.
Are you ready?
