Denmark’s Most Popular Graduate Programme 2022/2023

Summer is over and that means we are soon to enter into a new graduate programme cycle. However before turning our attention to the 2023 and 2024 graduate programme seasons we wanted to take a look back at the 2022/2023 season.

Today, we are launching our 2022/2023 Graduateships Most Popular graduate Programme List, our annual ranking of the 10 most popular graduate programmes and the 10 most popular graduate jobs in Denmark.

Most Popular Graduate Programme 2022/2023

The award for the most attractive graduate programme is focused on the overall programme from a company (ie Novo Nordisk Graduate Programme) and not the individual track/role. This is focused on the attractiveness of the entire programme in terms of views and clicks. More than 75 companies were considered.

Novo Nordisk Graduate Programme

It’s hard to disagree that Novo Nordisk is on a roll these days – not only are they the second most valuable European company they also have the most attractive Graduate Programmes. In our survey conducted last year among university students, the graduate programme of the Danish pharmaceutical gigant was voted one of the most desired programmes for graduates.

Lars Fruergaard Jørgensen, the current CEO of Novo Nordisk, started his career in the graduate programme more than 30 years ago and is an example of the trajectory it puts you on. Today, the graduate programme is held in high regard in the company, especially due to the fact that more than 40% of graduates coming through the programme holds managerial positions. If you become a graduate in the programme you can expect a very professional approach where Novo Nordisk supports your relocation and accommodation in Copenhagen. All foreign graduates are accommodated in apartment complexes in Østerbro and enjoys a social life together, which smoothes the transition into the graduate position.

Ørsted Graduate Programme

Similar to the company’s own evolution, the Ørsted Graduate Programme has undergone a significant transformation and now stands as one of the most well-equipped and efficiently managed programs available. Over the course of two years, this program guides graduates through 2-3 rotations, with the potential for one of these rotations to take place in their international offices. The program seeks to recruit graduates in fields such as Business Development & Finance, Digital & IT, and Engineering.

Naturally, many graduates are attracted to Ørsted’s remarkable journey. The pursuit of addressing climate change has remained and continues to be one of the most commendable causes for ambitious graduates. For those in search of a purpose-driven career, this opportunity holds great promise.

Most Attractive Graduate Job 2022/2023

The award for the most attractive graduate job is focused on the individual track/role (ie PwC Advisory Graduate). This is focused on the attractiveness of the specific graduate job in terms of views & clicks. More than 350 jobs were considered.

PwC – Advisory Graduate

Consulting has always been one of the most attractive industries for new grads and as such it is no surprise that PwC has won this award for best graduate job. Their Advisory track is a two year long learning journey, where you get to taste what it is like to work as a consultant in their Advisory team. You will have a structured learning environment and be able to learn from some of the best in the field. You will partake in Graduate camps and other bootcamps to build out your toolbox.

You can choose between five different areas: (1) CFO Advisory. (2) Governance, Risk & Compliance. (3) Corporate Finance. (4) Technology & Security. (5) Business Transformation.

Deloitte – CFO Services

The second most popular graduate programme is offered by Deloitte in their CFO Services department.

CFO Services is one of the major offerings within Deloitte Consulting. Focusing on CFOs of listed private companies, major financial & public institutions, we are the no. 1 advisor for the CFO. As a graduate at Deloitte you will get to be part of the CFO Academy which represents a high-quality and structured learning experience covering the first two years at consultant level, i.e. the graduate years.

Valcon – Graduate

The consulting sector also hosted the third most sought-after graduate position, notably at the Scandinavian firm Valcon. This company provides a meticulously organized and high-achieving graduate program, designed to propel individuals onto a fast-track path toward a management consulting career. Graduates have the chance to collaborate with seasoned consultants, collectively delivering outcomes for clients. Valcon’s work environment is defined by ambition, yet it fosters cooperation over cutthroat competition.

Their Danish facility has earned a charming moniker: The Hive. This title owes itself to the entrance’s configuration and the industrious nature of its occupants, akin to a bustling swarm of bees. But that’s not where the thematic creativity ends. Embracing the animal motif, they’ve bestowed each of their meeting rooms with names tied to animals, accompanied by descriptive taglines. Among these are The Elephant room, serving as a space for significant decisions, The Ant room fostering teamwork, and The Unicorn room, reserved for ingenious solutions.

Methodology

Our methodology is straight forward – the ranking is based on the number of views and clicks the individual graduate programme or graduate job received on Graduateships.com. This is, in our view, an objective way to measure “popularity” relative to one another, however it does of course not say anything about what it is actually like to be a graduate at the specific company. We have also tried to adjust for the amount of time a job was “active” on graduateships.com to ensure that duration was equaled out.

We look forward to once again guiding you through the jungle of graduate programmes for the 2023/2024 season – stay tuned!
