How did you start at the NNIT Digital Business Consulting Graduate Program? Where did you first hear about it?
NNIT has been on my radar for quite a while. I found the history of the company to be very interesting. The fact that it actually started as an internal IT department within Novo Nordisk, and then later developed into a company that not only builds IT but also operates, supports, and advises on IT solutions, is quite unique. As soon as I saw that they offered graduate programs, I applied. I thought it would be really interesting to work in a company where you can acquire knowledge of every step of the IT lifecycle.
The NNIT Digital Business Consulting graduate program lasts one year and has two rotations. Currently, I am in the Management Consulting department, and on the first of March, I will go to the Digital Innovation department. Both of them are within Digital Business Consulting, so I am not moving from one department to another; it’s a move between subdepartments.

What else attracted you to NNIT?
The culture of NNIT appealed to me as soon as interviews started. From the beginning, there was a lot of emphasis on their values. I know that a lot of companies talk about their values and how they are important, but it was just very clear from the start that the people that I talked to during the application process really lived by these values and saw their worth.
What really made NNIT stand out was the fact that they had a lot of interest in my personal attributes – for example what attitude I would have when given an assignment as well as my willingness to learn. It did not only revolve around my previous work experience and educational background. I found it very attractive that they had an actual interest in my person and not just my CV.
Why did you want to join a graduate program?
All graduate programs are quite hyped these days, so I had heard a lot about graduate programs in several companies. I thought the idea of starting off full-time working life in a program where you are able to try out different departments and are supported all the way seemed very appealing. I also haven’t really settled upon what I want to do for the rest of my career, so a graduate program is also a good opportunity to try out something different before settling in.
What has surprised you the most about working at NNIT?
I was surprised by the responsibility I was given quite early – and the trust people at NNIT have in you. I had expected responsibility, but after just a week and a half of onboarding, I already found myself on the client side. It was a pleasant surprise, to be thrown out in the real world so quickly.
What has been your biggest challenge as a graduate?
I don’t know if this is specific for graduate programs – I think it’s quite common for any new job – but time management can be challenging. Learning how to juggle and prioritize different assignments and projects – especially when working as a consultant. The first few months I had to try out different methods for maintaining an overview. I have found a system that works for me and I believe that it is an ability that can be ever improved throughout my career.

How do you see your future with NNIT?
This program is just the beginning. There is a whole lot of learning left, and more exciting projects to come. I have still just scratched the surface and I look forward to continuing my career in Digital Business Consulting.
Do you have any advice for other applicants?
It’s important to follow your gut when you’re in the application process. There are a lot of interesting companies out there with excellent graduate programs. In the end, I do think it’s most important that you can see yourself within the company in a long-term view.
If Consulting is not the right choice for you then NNIT has other graduate programs to offer within project management, DevOps, Dynamics 365 and architecture. Check them out here.
