I applied for Energinets graduate programme after completing my studies in Political Science at Aarhus University. Being a graduate, I got insights into the operation and development of our energy system as I joined departments working with Electricity Markets development, Electricity Transmission and finally Strategy and Regulatory affairs where I was hired as Energy Policy Advisor after the graduate program ended. Today, I work with strategy and senior management support.
Why did you join the Energinet Graduate Programme?
Because I was curious! I was curious to learn more about how energy policy and climate goals translates to reality – in Energinet via electricity grid and gas pipes. I was also curious to try out different jobs and hold different positions to learn more about my interests and abilities.
What attracted you to join the Energinet Graduate Programme?
As an independent public company, Energinet finds itself between the public and private sector connecting business with politics – quite a fascinating hybrid for a Political Scientist. Energinet seemed to me to be a company with an important and complex task in an energy sector that is constantly changing (I was not wrong). The graduate programme offered an opportunity to become part of this – while I could learn and develop professionally and personally at the same time.
As a company who prises courage and trust you will experience room and encouragement to try out new things and bring your perspective to the table.
What were the highlights of your time as a graduate?
When I think of highlights, I think of the people I have met during my rotations in the past two years. There are so many colleagues and leaders who have offered me their perspective, taught me a bit of what they know and showed me trust and support in trying different tasks myself.
How did you end up in your current role?
The head of Strategy and Regulatory affairs asked me if I wanted to do my final rotation in her department. I of course said yes, as it was a perfect match with strategy and politics being my main interests. The rotation naturally evolved into a permanent position.
How do you feel Energinet has supported your growth and development?
I think the Energinet graduate programme strikes the right balance between programme support on the one hand, including mentoring and other personal development activities, and the flexibility to tailor your two-year programme to your own needs and interests on the other.
As a company who prises courage and trust you will experience room and encouragement to try out new things and bring your perspective to the table.
