Intro to the Associate
I have a bachelor’s in Biochemistry from University College London and Master’s in Bioscience Enterprise at University of Cambridge. Throughout studying, I undertook a range of internships (in asset management and venture capital) across different industries and after graduating, conducted a 6-month internship with Novo Nordisk in the UK Digital Innovation Hub. Moved to Copenhagen from London in September 2024 to join Novo Nordisk Consulting (NNCon) as a Project Associate.
When did you first hear about Novo Nordisk Consulting?
I first heard about NNCon during my internship with Novo Nordisk in London. My manager at the time told me about them, and subsequently I reached out to someone in the team for a virtual ‘coffee chat’ to find out more about the department and the types of projects they do, as well as the application process. I also used NNCon’s website to find out more about the department.
What made you apply to Novo Nordisk Consulting?
So many reasons! The primary reason is the learning opportunity afforded by a role in NNCon. The team supports projects across the entire value chain, giving you the opportunity to learn so much about the industry and really drive impact for the company. Secondly, they offer numerous training opportunities throughout the year to develop your professional skills, and place a huge focus on supporting your career development and progression – it is a great place to start your career!
What has been the highlight of being at NNCon so far?
Being able to meet the team and get to know everyone better through department days and social events! I also really enjoyed the onboarding programme that was provided when we joined. The 2-week programme was full of sessions that equipped us with skills and knowledge to allow us to hit the ground running for first projects. A particular highlight was the 2-day case bootcamp at the end of the onboarding, where our consultant skills were really put to the test.
What has surprised you the most about working at NNCon?
The responsibility and exposure that is offered to you from Day 1. Even at the junior level, NNCon always offers you the opportunity to interact with senior stakeholders and really push you to develop your skills and take ownership of your own workstreams within projects. I think NNCon strikes the perfect balance of pushing you outside your comfort zone to ‘learn on the job’ while also supporting you when needed.
What has been the biggest challenge you have had to overcome as an Associate so far?
Managing diverse stakeholder inputs has been a key challenge, as it adds complexity and can require very quick turnaround when tight deadlines are approaching. This challenge really requires you to develop your communication skills, in order to ensure alignment and address concerns effectively.
What advice do you have to other applicants that are considering applying to NNCon
Take time to reflect on your motivations for wanting to work at NNCon, how NNCon can support your career development, and what specifically interests you about working for Novo Nordisk. Engage in conversations with ‘NNConers’ to gain insights, and explore the website for additional information. Finally, make sure you practice your case interviews!
