Lime Technologies Graduate Martin: Learning a lot in a fast pace

Intro to the graduate

My name is Martin and I work as an Account Manager Graduate at Lime Technologies at our Copenhagen office. My education background is a master’s degree within business administration and communication from Copenhagen Business School

How did you end up at the Graduate Programme / when and where did you first hear about it?

When I graduated from CBS, I was naturally looking for a job within business and I had my mind set at account managing because I wanted to get experience within sales. I did not have my mind set on Lime Technologies specifically. To be honest, I did not even know that they existed. But what I did know was that I wanted to start my career in IT and when I stumbled across Lime Technologies’ job posting on LinkedIn, I thought “why not give it a try”?

What attracted you to the company?

It was important to me that my first ‘real’ job would be at an organization where I could learn a lot in a fast pace and was given some responsibility for specific areas of my job. Lime offered these two elements which led me on to the softer aspects of what I wanted in a job e.g., social life at the office, culture, flexibility etc. I was met by an organization that focuses on the whole person and not only on your credentials. Lime has the confidence to believe that they can teach you what you need and therefore also focus a lot on the cultural fit. I quickly sensed, after the first interview, that there were room for much more than just working long hours which really got me interested in Lime and made me focus less on interviews I had lined up with other companies.

Why did you want to join a graduate program?

My thoughts were that although I have had jobs during my studies, I did not know completely what it would be like to enter the job market on a full-time basis which made me look specifically at the possibilities of getting a graduate position. As far as I understood graduate programs were a nice chance to get acquainted with life as a full-time employee without stepping completely out of the comfort zoon. My experience as a graduate trainee at Lime is that the main objective is to learn and that you don’t need to be on the top during the first year of employment.

What has surprised you the most about working at the company?

Do not take this the wrong way, but what surprised me the most is that they kept what the promised during the interviews. One of Limes important rule is to never over promise and when they told me that it was a workplace where the culture is open and that I would have a lot of flexibility in my work they delivered.

Biggest challenge as a graduate so far?

The biggest challenge is getting to know all the processes in selling and delivering our products, so basically understanding the supply-chain of a CRM system, and making a lot of people work together with the purpose of satisfying one specific customer.
