When I finished my studies, I worked at a marketing and communications agency, Wunderman Thompson. I was working on a project as a technical project manager and was often in contact with the IT architects and solution designers. I first heard about Trustworks through friend a who worked there. My interview process at Trustworks was extremely pleasant. I could clearly feel how the story of Trustworks and life as a consultant was all pervasive in the conversations. Fortunately, it turned out to be true once onboard.
What attracted you to the company?
Part of Trustworks’ consulting mindset is that we all succeed, when we work as a team. This means that our customers don’t just buy one consultant but get access to Trustworks’ entire bank of knowledge.
In more classic consulting, individual KPIs are often part of a performance agenda, but not at Trustworks. We are team players, and everyone wants us to succeed together – which is reflected in everyday life. Since my role as an IT architect is very broad, it is a great strength that I can learn from my colleagues from all of our consulting teams.
Why did you want to join a consulting firm?
As a consultant I can use my expertise on various projects and domains in a short time. This means that I constantly learn something new and gain a lot of experience – whether it is within pharma, finance or a third industry. It is a great way to figure out my interests – and over time improve my skills further.
What has surprised you the most about working at the company?
What surprised me most about working at Trustworks is how quickly I have become close friends with my colleagues. I have made a lot of good friends in an incredibly short time. From the first day I felt welcomed – and people are genuinely interested in each other, which is a pleasure.
Believe in your own abilities – when finishing a higher education, you are used to deal with a lot of heavy information without pressure.
Biggest challenge as a consultant so far?
The biggest challenge as a consultant is how you often must adapt between the different projects. My everyday life varies depending on which client I am with. Therefore, there is no single conclusion on what a typical working day and classic work tasks look like. As an IT architect in the consulting industry, I also work across industries – i.e., communicating target architecture to the steering committee in a financial company one day, and the next day I’m analyzing performance metrics at a pharma company. I love the challenge and changeability of my projects hence the steep learning curve.
Advice to other applicants?
Believe in your own abilities – when finishing a higher education, you are used to deal with a lot of heavy information. You are also used to see things in a larger perspective (finding patterns and learning new areas/domains). These are great skills when becoming a consultant. We will teach you the rest.
