When did you first hear about the Graduate Programme?
I first heard about the graduate programme in 2021 when I finished my master’s degree, and was curious on career opportunities in BEC Financial Technologies.
What made you apply to the programme?
I already knew BEC as a workplace, and was very determined to grow further within the organization. The endless opportunities and ability to shape own responsibilities was very appealing. Together with the programmes structured approach to networking and onboarding, it made the choice easy for me.
What was best about being a graduate at BEC?
It was definitely getting to know the other graduates, and having structured and relevant courses over the course of a year. As the ultimate wrap-up, the hackathon in Poland became culmination of a great year with lots of learnings and personal development, celebrated with all mutual graduates in Denmark & Poland.
What has been the biggest challenge you have had to overcome as a graduate?
The biggest challenge to me was planning my time and tasks efficiently, since I experienced a large sum of very appealing tasks and responsibilities that sparked my curiosity.
A big challenge for me as a graduate was to quickly adapt to a very mature and efficient team. Fortunately, with support from colleagues and managers those challenges become the exciting part about work!
What advice do you have to applicants that are considering applying for the programme?
Apply! Be curious. Engage in dialogue and listen to those around you with many years of experience, who are happy to share knowledge.
Can you describe your current leadership role?
Within my current leadership role I focus mostly on talent development, showing people their path to advance their career in BEC, and enabling them to take upon that path.
What are the key responsibilities and challenges you face in this role?
As a manager there is a lot of exciting responsibility, but responsibility also comes with workload. Being a young leader who recently advanced from the business analyst role, I still am challenged with leading at the right level – ensuring my team is self-driving and have me available in case of need. I believe that is something you can always practice and tune, regardless of leadership seniority.
How has your journey from the graduate program prepared you for leadership?
The graduate program enabled me to take upon great amounts of responsibility, and to be self-leading on initiatives and tasks. I had several opportunities during the program to practice decision making and leading features.
What advice do you have to applicants that are hoping for similar to your career progression from graduate to leadership?
Be vocal with your development wishes to your nearest manager. Often times, that individual will do whatever is within his or her power, to ensure that you develop in the path you would like to.
Be engaged, curious and show that you WANT to create value. I strongly believe that you will be seen if you help where needed, and dare put yourself in the spotlight once in a while
